How Our Office is Helping Patients Treat Sleep Apnea:

A New Chapter in Patient Care

At our dental office, we’ve always believed in taking care of more than just teeth—we care about your whole health. Over the years, we began to notice a recurring pattern in many of our patients: signs of disrupted sleep like fatigue, teeth grinding, and snoring. These weren’t just isolated concerns—they pointed to something bigger. We understood that sleep is a vital component of overall well-being, and disturbances in sleep can have far-reaching effects on physical and mental health.

As we dove deeper into our observations, it became clear that many patients were experiencing symptoms that could indicate a serious condition known as sleep apnea. This realization prompted us to seek out solutions that could address these underlying issues effectively. We saw the need for a missing solution in the marketplace. That is why Dr. Ashley Hill Lindsey founded Athens Sleep and Snoring Solutions to provide oral appliance therapy for patients with Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA). Our goal is to offer a comprehensive approach that not only addresses the symptoms but also contributes to the overall health and quality of life for our patients.

Meet Dr. Ashley Hill Lindsey

Dr. Ashley Hill Lindsey has always believed in building strong relationships with her patients, rooted in trust, education, and compassionate care. A committed lifelong learner, she is passionate about staying on the leading edge of dental and health innovations that improve her patients’ lives. She understands that every patient is unique, and she takes the time to listen to their concerns and educate them about their oral and overall health.

In 2021, Dr. Hill Lindsey took her passion a step further when she decided to help patients with one of the most under diagnosed health concerns: sleep apnea. Recognizing the significant impact that untreated sleep apnea can have on a person's life, she dedicated herself to learning more about this condition. Her dedication to learning and leadership has guided our practice’s expansion into dental sleep medicine, and she is currently pursuing Diplomate certification through the American Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine. This rigorous training ensures that she is equipped with the latest knowledge and techniques to provide the best care possible.

Dr. Lindsey’s warm, attentive approach helps patients feel informed and empowered—because taking care of your health should never feel overwhelming. She believes in fostering a supportive environment where patients can ask questions and feel comfortable discussing their health concerns.

Why Dental Sleep Medicine?

Oral appliances are a safe, effective, and comfortable alternative to CPAP machines for many patients. These custom-fit devices gently reposition your jaw during sleep to help keep your airway open—reducing or eliminating snoring and sleep interruptions. No more CPAP! These appliances are designed to be discreet and easy to wear, making them a practical choice for those who struggle with traditional CPAP therapy.

If you've been diagnosed with sleep apnea or suspect you might have it, we can help guide you through your options. Our team is dedicated to helping you find the most suitable treatment plan tailored to your needs, ensuring that you can enjoy restful nights and rejuvenated days.

A Journey of Advanced Training and Care

In 2021, Dr. Hill Lindsey was introduced to Dr. Emily Stopper, a board-certified Diplomate of the American Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine. Dr. Stopper treats OSA patients in her dental office daily and became a mentor to Dr. Lindsey during an intensive, 6-month training program. This mentorship provided Dr. Lindsey with invaluable insights into the complexities of sleep apnea and its treatment options.

What We Learned:

  • The science and systemic risks of Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA), including how it can lead to other serious health issues such as cardiovascular disease, diabetes, and depression.

  • How to read and break down sleep studies to educate patients, empowering them with the knowledge they need to understand their condition and treatment options.

  • All treatment options, with a focus on oral appliance therapy, including the benefits, potential risks, and how they compare to other treatment modalities.

After the program, Dr. Hill Lindsey and her assistant Kelli continued their mentorship with Dr. Stopper for another year and completed a hands-on apprenticeship in her North Carolina office—treating real patients side by side with an expert. This experience solidified Dr. Lindsey's expertise and confidence in providing effective sleep apnea treatments in our practice.
